Sample Schedule

Goals:

Teambuilding:

To provide participants with an environment that promotes learning through adventure-based activities

Leadership:

To develop and build skills to increase participants’ capacity to become effective and responsible leaders, assume leadership positions, and become productive contributors to their communities

Conflict Resolution:

To empower participants to take responsibility for peacefully resolving conflicts

9:30 a.m. Arrival and orientation – welcome, Ramapo staff introductions, explanations of program goals and expectations
9:45 a.m. Large group games - fun, engaging, and active cooperative games that encourage participants to interact with each other
10:15 a.m. Full value contract - a visual tool to help participants set expectations for themselves in order for the Group to have a positive, meaningful experience
10:45 a.m. Small group initiatives - dynamic problem-solving experiences which require full participation and creative thinking
11:45 a.m. Low ropes - an increasingly challenging sequence of experiences in which participants may:

  • traverse cables, logs, and wooden planks placed 6-12 inches above ground
  • use a rope to swing to a low platform
  • support each other while navigating various obstacles
1:00 p.m. Lunch – served buffet-style; salad bar available at lunch and dinner; vegetarian option upon request


1:45 p.m. High Ropes – A ropes course which provides opportunities for participants to climb elements built 25-30 feet above ground while attached to a belay (rope) system. The belay system is primarily secured by Ramapo’s highly trained and professional staff, but also involves 3-5 group members for each climber who fill critical roles on the belay team in order to keep the climber safe.
3:45 p.m. Wrap Up – a reflective activity to summarize the day’s experience and emphasize key concepts
4:00 p.m. Departure
